What does “board-certified” mean?
Board-certified prosthodontist
Prosthodontics restores lost teeth and their function with implants, dentures, crowns and bridges. After dental school, a dentist must complete a residency and pass the specialist examination administered by the Ministry of Health and Welfare to use the title “board-certified prosthodontist”.
Specialist in integrated dentistry
Integrated (advanced general) dentistry diagnoses and treats dental care as a whole, including cavities, gums, prosthodontics and oral surgery, rather than a single area. It is one of the 11 dental specialties designated by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. Holding this certification together with prosthodontics helps one dentist plan a patient’s entire treatment.

Q1 Who provides treatment at Joy Dental Clinic Bongcheon?
Director Jeong Jinwoo. He is a board-certified prosthodontist and specialist in integrated dentistry, and he personally handles consultation, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up rather than handing them to another dentist. Joy Dental Clinic Bongcheon is a single-director clinic.
Q2 Does the director personally consult on implants and dentures?
Yes. From the first consultation, the director reviews the 3D CT with you and explains it. It is not a setup where a coordinator explains and the director only operates. The treatment plan and cost are explained by the director before anything starts.
Q3 How is a board-certified prosthodontist different from a general dentist?
Only a dentist who, after obtaining a dental license, completes an additional residency and passes the Ministry of Health and Welfare specialist examination may use the title “board-certified prosthodontist”. Prosthodontics is the specialty for replacing or covering teeth with implants, dentures and crowns. Director Jeong is board-certified in both prosthodontics and integrated dentistry.
Q4 What treatments does he mainly provide?
Dental implants, full-arch implants, dentures, aesthetic prosthodontics (laminates, all-ceramic crowns), natural-tooth preservation such as cavity and gum treatment, and TMJ care. Implants, dentures and aesthetic prosthodontics are the core fields of a prosthodontist.
